Slava the Dog

SLAVA THE DOG is a heartwarming family story set in the midst of the Russian-Ukrainian war. A bomb hits the Lutsenko family home and Nyka (34), her grandmother (89), their children Andryi (9) and Alona (6) and their dog Slava flee to Hamburg, leaving their father Petro (39) behind. On their journey they meet the Kyiv Circus, adding magic to their lives.

In Hamburg they plan to stay with Nyka’s Russian ex-boyfriend Nikolai (45) and his girlfriend Julia (35). Tensions flare, leading to Slava’s escape. Meanwhile, two sisters, Tanja Simon (44), the Minister of Culture, and Laura (42), a pacifist, get involved. Tanja and her team see the lost dog as an opportunity for promotion. Laura finds Slava at the station and takes her home, unaware that the whole city is looking for the dog.

The search for Slava unfolds with unexpected twists and reunions. SLAVA THE DOG is a story of family, unity and hope in difficult times.

  • Andryi Lutsenko

    Andryi Lutsenko (9) ist a clever boy with an unusual ability to see the light, even when it is all dark.

  • Alona Lutsenko

    Alona Lutsenko (6) is Andryi’s sister. She is a little bundle of love and care who tries to cope with the dramatic changes in her life without complaining.

  • Slava the dog

    Slava the Dog: A family dog that the children imagine is a mysterious alien who has come to earth to learn about humanity.

  • Nyka Lutsenko

    Nyka Lutsenko (34) is  the mother of Andryi and Alona. She is the strong hearted and tries to keep her head up high, even though life just seems to get even harder.

     

  • Ba Lutsenko

    Ba Lutsenko is Nykas Grandmother and never wanted to leave the Ukraine. Ba misses her home and wants to protect her family.

  • Petro Lutsenko

    Petro Lutsenko (36) is Nykas husband and the father of Andryi and Alona. As the family have to leave him behind he faces his own journey.

  • Laura and Zahar

    Laura Simon (Heike Makatsch – Resident Evil/Love Actually) is a true pacifist and the polar opposite of her sister, Tanja. Laura can’t stop herself from helping, even when her help isn’t needed.

    Zahar is a 17-year-old Ukrainian who is living with Laura. He was one of Laura’s rescue missions.

     

  • Nikolai and Julia

    Nikolai (Ivan Shvedoff  – Mission: Impossible – Phantom Protokoll), a failed Russian Restaurant owner who struggles holding his life together, when he decides to help Nyka, his Ex, by letting them stay with him.

    Julia (Sibel Kekilli – Game of Thrones) is Nikolai’s girlfriend, a graceful teacher with a big heart who brings out the best in Nikolai.

  • Zoe, Taras and Solomia

    Solomia is an elegant artist with the voice of an angel, who also runs the Kyiv Circus. She is married to Taras and is the mother to Zoe.

    Taras works in the circus and is a part of creating magical acts! He is Zoe’s father and a true comedian at heart, always putting on a smile no matter what.

    Zoe is growing up in the circus and knows all the tricks in the book. She is sneaky and when she spots Slava she instantly falls in love.

  • Tanja and Magnus

    Tanja Simon is Laura’s sister and the minister of culture in Germany. Tanja’s life revolves around business.

    Magnus is Tanja’s assistant, and he always knows exactly what is best for her at all times. A suit-wearing law student who is incredibly driven by success.
